Baqueira Beret, a culinary ski resort

Baqueira Beret, a culinary ski resort

The resort has four high-altitude restaurants. The four venues offer a great variety in their menus ranging from local dishes to 5-star main courses.

Along with its great snow quality, landscape variety and culture, Pyrenean cuisine fills a snow holiday with intense flavours. Plus good restaurants serving typical dishes and others which are not so typical can be found all over Baqueira Beret.

This fare is divided among the four high-altitude restaurants located on the runs. Each has its own personality and provides a different range of dishes and flavours, so during a week of skiing you can have lunch and even dinner with diverse set meals in different places.

5J Grill Baqueira, the best acorn-fed ham at the foot of the runs

The 5J Grill Baqueira restaurant has a rustic atmosphere that shuns the traditional décor of a 5J but maintains the essence, elegance and quality of its dishes. The restaurant at Baqueira 1800 is the best place to enjoy 100% Iberian ham and fantastic views that stretch right down the valley.

As soon as you go into the 5J you notice the quality and warmth of the materials with a wood and stone-based décor, a show grill, a large central fireplace and black tablecloths on wooden tables that convey the luxury and comfort of an authentic 5J eatery.

Ham is undoubtedly the star dish, but the menu has a great selection of top quality meats with a local stamp. There is also a set meal for children featuring high quality meat, vegetable and fish dishes in which fried squid with delicious grilled vegetables are a big hit among young skiers.

Moët Winter Lounge at Orri

Another jewel in Baqueira Beret’s gastronomic crown is the Moët Winter Lounge in Orri. The restaurant has two separate parts. Outside there is a terrace-solarium that on sunny days becomes a perfect chill-out area for sipping a glass of Moët & Chandon champagne while enjoying ambient music played by the venue’s DJ.

The exclusive interior area, which can seat between 30 and 40 people, has a large central table with capacity for 22 people and two cosy corners with a fireplace for hosting more private meals. The menu features premium culinary quality tasting dishes including smoked salmon tartare in homemade marinated sauce and foie toast served on stone. Furthermore the desserts consist of a selection by celebrated pastry chef Oriol Balaguer.

The Moët Winter Lounge also offers the option of organising group dinners with a selected set meal and the entire dinner with Moët & Chandon or a good wine at the choice of the diner. You can go up to the restaurant in your own vehicle, but for greater convenience you can hire a bus from Olperer, www.olperer.com, which will take groups up and bring them back down at the time and place they choose.
